A useful learner test app should help you answer three questions: am I studying the right material, why did I get that question wrong, and what should I practise next? We built Learners Test Australia around those decisions. The aim is to make a short study session purposeful, whether you are starting from scratch or revisiting a weak topic.

This is our explanation of the product we make, not an independent ranking of every app on Google Play. Our strongest case is the combination of features below. Use them as a checklist when comparing learner test apps, and choose the one that fits your state, device and way of learning.

Availability: our website currently lists the Android app as coming soon to Google Play. See the app FAQ for availability updates. This guide describes its features; it does not claim a live store ranking, customer rating or measured improvement in test results.

1. Start with your state and test pathway

The app has profiles for all eight Australian states and territories. You can focus on the questions and licensing guidance relevant to where you are learning, rather than having to sort a mixed collection yourself. For a learner, that means a clearer starting point: select your state, look at its test information, and build your routine there.

Our state guides explain the practice options and their scope. Test routes matter too: an online learning course and an in-person knowledge test are different experiences. App practice supplements your preparation; it does not complete a required official course or replace the licensing authority's instructions.

2. Understand the answer and check its source

Conceptual explanation of the study flow, not a screenshot or a measured learning outcome.

Every practice question includes an explanation and the handbook page or road rule it comes from. That gives you something useful to do after a wrong answer: read the reason, check the source and identify the detail you missed. A score alone cannot show whether you understood the rule or simply recognised an answer.

Our questions are original practice material. They are not a copy of an official question bank, and we do not promise that you will see the same wording in your test. Read how we make and check our questions to understand the editorial process. If an explanation appears wrong, the support page explains how to report it with the state, question and source.

3. Know what to practise next

  1. 01Quick checkFind your starting point
  2. 02ReviewRevisit questions due
  3. 03Fix mistakesWork through explanations
  4. 04PractiseTry new questions

The daily plan brings together a quick check, reviews due, mistakes to revisit and new questions. Spaced review returns material to your study routine, so you have a reason to revisit a difficult topic instead of repeatedly starting another random test. It is a practical structure for learners who want a manageable next step.

For example, after a session with several incorrect answers, work through those explanations before attempting another mock. Use the next session to review the relevant topics, then check whether you can explain your choices. Our mock-test study guide describes this approach in more detail.

4. Use mock tests alongside progress feedback

Mock tests help you practise answering a sequence of questions, while progress information helps you see what needs more attention. The app also offers an estimated pass chance based on your practice answers. Treat it as study feedback, not a prediction you should rely on to book or pass an official test.

Premium adds section forecasts, weak spots and a review planner. Those tools can help organise revision, but the useful habit is the same on either plan: review why an answer is right, revisit mistakes and read the current official guidance. No practice score guarantees a result on test day.

5. Fit revision around your day

Questions are built into the app, so you can practise offline after signing in. Progress syncs when you are back online. Signing in, watching an ad for another mock test, and buying or restoring Premium need a connection. This makes ordinary question practice useful when your connection is unreliable.

The app supports English, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese and Spanish, with right-to-left Arabic, dark mode and large-text support. There is an important coverage detail: questions for Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory are currently in English. App language support also does not mean your official test is offered in the same language. Check the feature guide before choosing your study setup.

6. Keep core practice free, with optional Premium

Is Learners Test Australia right for you?

Our app is a strong fit if you want explained practice for your state, a routine that includes revisiting mistakes, and a choice between free study and a one-time upgrade. It is Android-only at present, requires sign-in, and remains an independent study aid. Your licensing authority provides the official requirements.

Start with the full feature tour, then choose your state or territory. You will be able to judge whether the coverage and study approach match what you need before deciding to use the app.
